With an update to the GP contract in April 2011, came a requirement for each practice to set up its own Patient Participation Group (PPG).
As part of these changes, we are required to promote proactive engagement with patients and undertake local surveys. This is intended to ensure patients are involved in on-going planning and decision making about practice changes.
What issues does the PPG look at?
The PPG consists of a group of interested registered patients who are representative of our practice population at large. The group meets regularly to discuss issues and ways of improving services for the benefit of patients.
For example, the PPG will work with the practice on issues such as access to appointments, both same day and book ahead, but will also look at issues such as continuity of care, the range of skills available, mechanisms to access practices and geographical access.
Can I join the PPG?
If you are a registered patient at the surgery, then, of course, you are more than welcome to join! Visit the Combe Coastal Practice website www.combecoastalpractice.co.uk for more information, or ask at reception for a leaflet.
How to contact us –
Remember this is your patient group and if you have points you would like to discuss with us or would like us to take forward there are various ways to get in touch. We have our own email address, independent of the Practice, which is: [email protected] – or you could leave a message at reception for us asking for someone to call you back. Clearly we can’t act in relation to clinical issues.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT SECURITY AND RESPONSE TIMES WHEN USING EMAIL OR WEB-BASED COMMUNICATION METHODS
Please do not use any of our email addresses, our website contact form or our Facebook accounts for complaints, confidential information or queries related to personal medical conditions. Submissions to us using these methods are not secure and are not monitored on a regular basis. There could be significant delay in responding via this method. If you need to contact the surgery about any medical or health issues and require a response, please either telephone, or write to the practice. Contact details are at the bottom of the page.
